Importing RIS file from PubPsych

Postby Sonja.Grosheva » Wed Dec 11, 2019 9:09 am

Hi, I'm trying to import a bit over 1000 references, which I've downloaded as a RIS file from PubPsych (

I get the following message:

Done processing 1 references from file!
Skipping article with RefID: , it has an invalid RefID. RefID must be an integer greater than 0 and less than 4,294,967,296.

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong while exporting the references or while importing them to DistillerSR. And I don't know where this RefID is. Can you help me?

Hi Sonja,

When uploading an RIS file, by default Distiller is looking for an ID tag in the RIS file. We use this ID tag to number our references (DistillerSR reference id). If that ID tag does not exist in the RIS file, then you would have to provide a starting id number to Distiller at Step 2 of the upload process. If none is provided, Distiller will provide an error such as you are seeing.

I hope this helps
